A SONG OF THE SEA.
FuU of wild pranks my foam-capped rank* Dash high -against the shore, And all day long I sing my long With loud, continuous roar. The sea-birds fly and scream on high, They hover in mid air; Then sink to rest upon my breast, They 'love the heaving there. . Upon me floats the .pleasure boat, -'And steamers o'er me glider The sailing ship, with plunge and dip, Floats on by wind- and tide. I roll along the rocks among, I creep -up on the sand; And flash away up thro' the bay To undermine the land. My "billows play and sport all day, They never tire of fun, But strike the shore with noisy roar lake booming of « gun. "Sear in, year out I roll about, I never tire of play, Nor think of rest while I am blest With freedom all the day. l —zA. H. Biosinjzß,. January, 1508.
