-•- PUBLIC INQUIRY SUGGESTED. LONDON, January 29. There is a revival of interest in connection with the recent placing of five officers ot the Fifth Lancers on half-pay. The Daily Mail urges a public inquiry', erpecially in the case of Captain Bryce Wilson, -who considers himself a victim oi Colonel Graham's secret confidential reports. At the begirmi.ng of November it was announced that three maioTs and two captains of the sth (Royal Irish) Lancers had been placed en half-pay on the ground that tho regiment i\ a,s unfit for service. Xot a little distinction i« associated with the name of the regiment, whose colours bear " Ramilies," "Blenheim," " Ouder>aid> ' " Malplaciuet," " Suakim," and " South Africa." In December the War Office stated that the placing of the officers upon half pay was not due to causes detrimental to their character. Their services would be utilised elsewhere, as the resiment was not inefficient.
