SHIPMENTS NOT DIMINISHED.
It is rather singular that while the milk supply in some northern districts is undoubtedly dwindling to a very low ebb, the quantities of cheese and butter exported from Wellington to the present date show a healthy increase. In the face of the export figures, Mr J. L. Harkness, secretary of the' National Dairy Association, told a Dominion reporter that while some -districts were certainly suffering from the drought yet in the "industry as a wholeit could not be said, that the supply of milk was seriously diminished. The figures on which Mr , Harkness based his conclusions are appended. They show the number of cases of cheese and boxes of butter exported from Wellington in the. various cargoes in the past two seasons. 'In each year's figures the calculations are begun from the date of the first cheese ship* ment : —
