The monthly meeting of the committee j ] of 'the Otago A. and P. Society was held on the 23rd, and attended by Messrs E. F. t Duthie, president (in the chair), J. Angus, J. W. Blair, F. Oldham, G. H. MacEwan, < J. Smith, A. Johnson, J. Elliott, T. Muir, f J. Rosa, J. Gow, John Nimmo, D. Andrew, £ W. Jaffray, his Worship the Mayor (J. \ Loudon), A. S. Or bell, G. H. Gilroy, W. i Burnett, T. Ritchie, and T. E. Jefcoate. t Apologies were received from Messrs R. j H. Hunter-Weston, A. Todd, A. M'Farlane, P. Pattullo, W. Patrick, and J. Shiel. i Before commencing the business of the ( day the Chairman referred in feeling terms j to the death of the vice-president (Mr H. ] Buckland), and moved tfye following resolu- i tion, which was carried in respectful silence: — "That this meeting deeply regrets the sudden death of the vice-presi-dent (Mr H. Buckland^. and wishes to express its sincere sympathy with the widow and family^ in their sad bereavement, arid also desires to place on record its high J appreciation of the valuable services rendered by the late Mr Buckland in pro- * moting the interests of the Otago A. and P. Society, of which he was an energetic J member of committee for the last 10 years." It was also resolved to. forward a * letter o^ sympathy to Mr -Walter Bla'ckie " "in the recent loss of his wife, and express ' . • the sympathy of. 1 the committee to himself j and family in their sad bereavement. " , ' The Secretary of the Wanganui A. and P. Association wrote giving full" particulars of the recent disqualification" of Iwo exhibi- . tors, and after' consideration it was resolved -- 1 to endorse the disqualifications imposed by ' the Wanganui A. and P. Association. ? The Secretary of -the Pastoral and Agri- '. cultural Societies' Union of New South • Wales wrote asking this society to appoint j judges in the light horse sections who ' would be willing to give their services at ) the principal shows in New South Wales. — • The letter was referred to the light Horse 6 Committee for consideration. The Traffic Superintendent New Zealand Railways wrote thanking the committee for resolution passed at last meeting expressing the appreciation of the society for the ' special trains run for the convenience of J show exhibitors. ' The dates of the next winter show were < fixed for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. ' and Friday, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and sth of i June. . : A 6ub-committee was set up to revise^ tho ] winter show schedule, the sub-committee L to meet on the evening of Wednesday, the ■ 26th February. •Mr P. Pattullo was appointed ac renre- • sentative of the Otago A. and P. Society at the next International Conference of ' Sheep-breeders, to be held in England in « July, 1908. . < A considerable amount of detail business was carefully gone into and dealt with, and accounts amounting to £77 5s were passed for payment. Out of respect to the memory of the late Mr H. Buckland it was resolved that the question of filling the vacancy of vicepresident stand over "until the annual meeting of the sooiety in June.
