A report of a" special meeting of the Finance Committee was submitted, in whiob it w.«| recommended , that the re; numeration of i Mr F. H. Campbell,, le'q: , turer of German, be " increased to £75 a year, the increase to . commneee from January 1. — The rest of the report dealer with matters of detail-— The " report /ras ■adopted. ' - •-!',.» The Finance Committee reported that '£1308 Bad been passed for payment. The* income since last meeting, was- £629. The bank pass book made up to January 8 )iad been laid upon, the table and' showed lin the general account a. debit of £3*2, . to wihioh" had to be added outstanding cheques • £87, a total of £429. ' c With . regafd' . to the new building erected on* th& Museum* ' site by the trustees of' the Art Gallery, fha • committee recommended tEat £10 ' bo " offered for the building. _ with an expression of regret that the funds of the-Uni-versity, did not permit the council to mak« _ a more liberal offer. " considered an application from Dr Bhand . for suitable assistance ~in- the- department of phyaice, and had resolved io recommend that this application be considered* by tha council in connection with the scheme for the disposal of ijne income derived from the Beverly trust.— Adopted. - f The janitor wrote complaining that th« Mining School wai used jut night without his knowing anything about it. Recently a student had said he got the' keys from Mr' Waters.— Referred to Mr Waters for- explanation. It was resolved that the whole question • of tne finances and- the financial arrangements of the Dental School be referred to the Denta-l Conference to report,, and that Mr Roberta's name .be added to tne committee. The plans for^ tne Tiooken- wing" at. the Museum, were approved. A draft scheme for the* disposal of ther Beverly fund was submitted and considered J ~ in committee and was, with certain altera--tions, approved. Competitive' plans for -the" new • Mining Sohool were placed before {he meeting, but the hour was £oo late to go into then* fully, and they will be considered by the Mines Committee and ' suoh other members of 1 , the council as like to attend, at a sneeti»3j- at * p.m. to-day.
