DEATH UNDER CHLOROFORM.
1 ASHBTIBTON, January 18. An inquest was held this afternoon touching- the death of May Gladys "Williams, aged '13 years, ■who died on Friday while undergoing an operation for -"enlarged tonsils. The medical evidence ; .was to the effect that an operation was absolutely ne'oessary, that a very "small doee of chloroform had beep administered, that the operation .was almost performed •while > the patient was only partially; under the influence of the anaesthetic, and that then she euddenly •assumed a- bad colour and col 1 lapsed. Subsequent attempted resuaitafcioh, which 'were continued for. ah hour and a-half , were resultless. ' - The jury returned a yerdiob in accordance with the "medical testimony, adding that they were satisfied that all precautions had been taken. •
The Inglewood Oil and Prospecting Company's bore has now .reached a. depth- of 500 ft, and the. drill is proceeding.- through £&£& ' format wai " "':.""'"
