ADDINGTON 1 STOCK MARKET. CHBISTCHURCH, January 15. At the Addington live stock market to-day there were fairly large entries of stock, ana a. 1 good attendance. Fat cattle showed a decline in values. Prime fat lambs were xathei firmer, and sheep were dull of sale at lower I rates. Pigs sold better in consequence of & small entry. The yarding of store sheep was larger than for some time, and consisted principally of lambs. Owing to the continued dry weather there was a poor demand, and sales were j difficult to effect, ,a number of lines being I passed in, and prices were low-ar- in some > cases by fully Is 6d per head. ! Small lambs brought very low prices. Two- | tooth ewes, 15s; mixed two- tooth, 8s 8d to i 14s 9d'; store lambs, 7s to 12s 2d; culls, 3s 6d to 5s 6d. j The yarding of fat lambs was the largest J for the season, and while there were some I large and really prime lines, there was also | a large proportion of dry, hard, and backI ward-oonditioned lotSj a number of which | were bought by graziers. There w-a-9 better competition among the export buyers, and price* for the best lots were rather firmer, 1 while backward lots brought lower figures. Tegs made 15s" 9d to 17s 6d ; ordinary freezers, j 13s to 15s 6d; lighter, lls to 12s 6d; backI waxd-eonditionea, 7s- 6d to. lla. There was a moderate yarding of fat sheep, mostly backward-conditioned lots. Anything prime sold well up to late rates, but aged ' ewes were rather cheaper. There was little i business done _ for export. The range of 'prices was: Prime wethers, 16s 6d to 19s; lighter, 13s 9d to 16s; prime ewes, 14s 6d to 16s 9d; medium, 12s to 14s; aged and light, 9s to lls 6d. . The entry of beef totalled- 311 head, of ; which the bulk waa cows. The sale was a dragging one, cows being difficult to dispose of, and prices were r»ther easier for prime beef, and the decline in cows was greater. Other steers brought £6 to £10 10s; heifers, £5 to £7 ss; cows, £4 5s to £7 2a 6d— equal to 21s to 23a 6d for prime, and 16s to 20s for cows and medium quality per 1001b. Veal calves sold at 4s 6d to 555. There was a medium entry of store cattle, which met with a dragging sale. Yearlings sold up to 16s; 15 to 18 months, 25s to 30s; two-year-old heifers, 455; three and three and a-half year steeTs, £6; three-year-old heif«r3, £3 15s; dry oowb, £3 15s. Dairy cows were in poor demand at £3 5s to £6 ' los-. "~ There was a rather small yarding of pigs, and prices were better. Choppers sold up to £4; baconers, £2 5s to £2 17s— equal to 4|d to sd; porkers, 35s to 42s— equal to 5Jd; medium stores, 18s to 275; vreaners, 12s to 15s; suckers, to 10s.
