MINERS' RESIDENTIAL SITES. (From. Ottb, Ovrer- Coebe3ponijent.) AUCKLAND, Jamiary 17/ Mr-J. Newth rnade^an attack on the administration of the Warden (Mr Bush) at the WaiHi Bbrouj^ Council, last night, i when a recommendation, was before the 'council to grant a request made by the- ■ Waihi Company for: consolidation on on© | plan of all the righte and privileges held ] by the company. Ho moved that the i Minister's attention be drawn to the way in which the Mining Act had been administered during the past eight years. He said that about eight years ago the warden refused numibera of miners residential sites, on Union Hill. The; jtoOT miners hod then to seek sites elsewhere, upon whioh to build huts, and yet to-day those j sites formed on© large residential site, j built upon, and occupied Dy the superintendent of the Waihi Com<pauy. He oontende<f that the four or five sections in question, should have reverted to- the Crown and been, open for occupation when not required for mining, purposes. A large torse run was on the plan as a battery site. The matter was then allowed to drop.
