PALMERSTON" JST., January 16." An accident of a, remarkable nature occurred on the Gorge road on Friday .afternqon^to-va-v-yQung .maa^-Bamed.. Powell 2Q -yeaiis^of -age-j, -Be*.-wa4f:c^Bi|r':through the gorge, and when attempting^ to get over one of the slips he lost hiSr. foothold and fell into the gorge beneath, a distance of about 60ft. On Monday he recovered consciousness, and found himself lyim>- on a ledge of rock a little above the river. He tried to attract attention, but failed, and, being too weak -to- gefc up, he was forced to spend another night on the ledge. On Tuesday he scaled the bank and walked to the train at Wakaronga. His injuries are confined to skin wounds and bruises, and he is, of course 1 , suffering- from exposure, bnt he will soon probably bo about again and none the worse for his extraordinary experience.
