Under a pretext that he was connected -with a. band of German Boblemea -who -were i visiting Abyssinia to shoot lions, Mr Arnold Hold, representing some German manufacturers and banks, asked the Emperor Menelik for a concession to , establish a bank " at Addis Abebba, also for a spirit monopoly and the Tight to J run a motor service between Jibutil and ! Addis Abebba. He promised Menelik 10 per cent, of the profits of the spirit' J. monopoly.
