Cures for Ringworm.
j An objectionable complaint from which children often suffer is ringworm, which is sometimes due to under-feeding, drinking bad water, breathing impure air, and una cleanly habits. It is contagious, and any 3 ' child affected with it should be separated , , '. at once from others. t t A gipsy treatment that has been tned $ with success by a lady whose little girl was j 3 f a victim to ringworm consists of shaving | i the particular part of the head affected j ■> and then rubbing it gently with a soft j i nail-brush lathered with soft soap night and , - morning. - " s Another treatment is as follows: —Proe cure an oyster-shell, and in the thick part T ' of it pour a little vinegar, and add sufficient t powdered borax to cover a sixpence. Put . ! the shell on the stove and-allow the vuiet to boil; then with the latter dab the i afflicted 1 parts, using a piece of soft linen ) rag for the purpose, and applying the viner ' gar as hot ag can be borne. Repeat the j b treatment frequently, until a cure 'a , t effected, using a, fresh piece of rig each j
time and burning each piece as soon ts used. ' 'Again, it is suggested that a simple euro rests in rubbing the affected parts with zinc ointment twice a day, after having first well washed the ringworm spots with: warm water and Soft soap and afterwards dried the head ; and another remedy that is stated to have cured in many cases consists of washing the head with soft soap and warm water every morning and applying a lotion every night composed of one drachm of sub-carbonate of scda djssolVod! in half a. pint of vinegar. Cleanliness is the primary factor in curing this and kindred diseases.
