Picnic. — Oi New Year's Day "Hie members of the "West Presbyterian Church. Choir held their annual picnic to Taieri Mouth, a. very pleasant day being spent. Angling. — -The Tai-eri -River, jperoaps owing to the scarcity -of water ior mining puiposes Tip-Dountry, i» in splendid order foi fishing, several local anglers 1 catehin-g some nice baskets. I heard of <me fish weighing 22&1b being caugirt. Flower Show.— The West Taderi Horticultural Society held its- animal show on ths 4th inst. The show was perhaps not equal to its predecessors, no -doubt due to the fact that several promdn-eint exhibitors were away for their holidays, and also to the exceptionally tisry season. . It .is intended to hold the n«xt one in March.
