IMPERIAL POLITICS.
OLD-AGE PENSIONS ADVOCATED. LONDON, January 8. Mr D. J. Shackleton, M.P., owing to pressure of other duties, declines reelection jo the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Labour party. Mr Shackleton, addressing his constituents at Clitherhoe, advocated raising £17,500,000 yearly from all those whose incomes are .over £5000 a year toward an old-age pension of 5s weekly. He declared that those at the top could stand a little bit off without running short.
