AUCKLAND. December '31. * - The work of the "North -Auckland railway :■ line is making satisfactory progress. The •" line to Wayby is now practically -completed! aSid ready for opening, only a few .finishing. 3 touches being jequired. The Public Worfci 3 Department now allows this portion of the • line to be used for the "carriage" of pas--' sengers," goods, and stock, saving many ; miles of weary travel over rough roads, i The work beyond, Wayby ia well in liand. 3 as far as Wellsford, and very good progress "\ is being made. For some distance the -j rails are laid, and ' ballasting partly done. \ The bridge across the Wellsford-Wark- ~\ worth road is nearly completed, and if ifl -j were not for two or three cuttings that are 3 giving trouble this section would soon be } ready for opening. The section between "5 Wellaford *nd Tenana has been, starte 1_ a* ; the Wellsford end, where the main portion -' of jthe work lies. This section will be an- * easy one compared to the other, the work i after the first mile being light, with no \ deep cuttings. i
