THE ELINGAMITE'S TREASURE.
A GOOD QUANTITY RECOVERED
AUCKLAND, December 30. r' A telegraphio message was received in >- Auckland from the north to-day by Cap- ,- tam.-M'l£enzie, the promoter of the expedi-tion,-intimating that the party which left <vA»ek!ancl -on the Claymore a fortnight ago ~- for the Kings* Islands to search for remainder of the -specie irom the lYreok of the Elingamite has recovered a ; ; "good quantity" of the treasure. The "• weather has -evidently* been favourable for l~,~fhe carrying out of diving operations, and -efforts of the party in this direction ~ i?pear- to have been very successful. /The S^tmount recovered on the present expedition r:-h» as yet not been ascertained.
