SOUTHLAND SAWMILLERS.

INVEROABGILL, December 31. ■ At the annual meeting of the Sawmillers Workers' tJnion here to-day about 30 members were present. The main business beyond the appointment of officers was the decision as to what action should he taken in regard to the increase of wages. The annual report stated that two conferences with employers in this connection had been without promise of any benefit to workers. It was moved that the union make a demand on the employers for an increase on the rate allowed in the log, which expired on December 1, and if it were not acceded to the workers should go out on strike. An amendment was proposed that the new committee be empowered to deal with the new log, with instructions to arrange for another conference with the employers, and that, failing a settlement they take such steps as they deem advisable in the best interests of the society. The amendment was carried, only three voting for the motion.
