LAND BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Land Board held on Wednesday was attended by Messrs^Maitland (chief commissioner), Duncan, Clark, Brown, M.H.R., aad Reeves. STBATH-TAIEKI, John Connolly, of Strath- Taieri, wrote stating that, he was agreeable to surrender the perpetual lease of section 19, block X, Strath-Taieri, with the view of obtaining valuation for his improvements, but asked for three months' time to repair fencing and other improvements damaged by floods. — The following minute was recorded regarding the application -. " If lease is surrendered, must be done forthwith." WYNDHAM. The Wyndham Road Board asked that plans t of road lines on which it is proposed to spend £24 4s Id, deferred-payment moneys, be approved of. — Agreed to. TAIERI. Plans of roads on which the Taieri County Council propose to spend £89 18<j 8d were also approved of. WAIHEMO. Plans of roads in the Waihemo County on which it is proposed to spend £65 Is 8d were approved of. DEFAULTING SETTLERS. Consideration of the Receiver of Land Revenue's statement of the deferred-payment settlers in arrears was further adjourned for a week. OTAMA. As Ranger Hughau reported unfavourably upon the Perpetual Trustees and Agency Company's application, on behalf of William M'Alan, to have rent of deferred-payment section 8, block 111, reduced, it was declined. WENDOSSIDK. The Secretary of School Commissioners wrote forwarding letter from C. G. Thurston applying to have section 9, block 11, Wendouside, offered for pastoral ' lease at 2s per acre, with recommendation that he be allowed to occupy land on condition of destroying rabbits. Referred to chief commissioner to arrange accordingly. PORT MOLYNEUX. Mrs M'Kinlay wrote applying to have a small portion — 4 acres 3 roods — of Lighthouse Reserve, Port Molyneux, included in her application.—Rei erred to Government for favourable consideration. CAIRN HILL. Messrs Prosser and Lithgoe wrote complaining of certain persons illegally occupying sections 24 to 27 and 42 and 43, block I, Cairn Hill district. — Referred to district land officer for report. APPLICATION FOR NEW LANDS. James M'Kay applied for pastoral lease of sections 1, 18, 19, and 20, block IV, Crookston district. — Referred to ranger to report. Robert Miller applied to purchase section 79, block VIII, Glenomaru. — Declined. Mr G. W. Draper applied on behalf of self and family for 200 acres at Glenomaru under homestead system. — Letter received. SURRENDER OF RUNS. George Joachim applied for leave to surrender run, 334 and 334 a, Wauaka, and C. Lindsay to surrender run 443, Manapouri. — Referred to Government for consideration. ST. BATHAKS. A gold mining lease over section 13, block 11, St. Bathans (six acres) was granted to the Scandinavian Water Race Company. WAIPAPA. An increase of one head of water was allowed to E. Brown and W. Bennett under their water race license, 466, at Waipapa. COMPLETION OF PURCHASE. The following applications to complete purchases were approved of :— Samuel Hewitt, section 25, block V, Greeavale ; W. Gordon, section 15, block 111, Kingston. CAPITALISATION. John Walsh was allowed to capitali&e paynieuts on section 9, block I, Otara. PERPETUAL LEASES. The following tenders for perpetual leases in Kurow were accepted :— Section 7, block IV, 487 acres (eight tenders), upset Is 6d, J. Philips, I at 3s; section 8, block IV, 548 acres (eight j tenders), upset Is, G. Orr, 2s (s§d; section 1, I block VII, 344 acres (three tenders), upset Is 6d, J. Porter, at 3s Id ; section 3, block VII, 420 acres, upset Is 6d, J. Duffy, at upset ; section 4, block VII, 423 acres (seven tenders), upvt Is 6d, W. Seth Smith, at 3s Id— The Chief Commissioner btated that on sections 1 and 23, block IV, there was fencing, which the owners were entitled to remove within two months.
