A NIGHT PROWLER.

OPERATING IN LEVIN. The operations of a night prowler are disturbing the residents of Levin. Humours of hi* activities have been current for some time, .and on at least tv.-o occasions toe individual has been surprised while trespassing on private property. On Tuesday a resident, in view of recent events, v.-as making a tour of his garden before retiring, when a man started out of the darkness close to the -bedroom windows and vaulted the fence between the house and that of the nest door neighbour. He landed on the lattor's verandah with a crash and dashed round it, into trie shrubbery on the other side of the bouse with. trie citizen and his neighbour in full pursuit. They searched the shrubbery arid it is now clear that while they were doing so die night-bird kept on right round the house, leaped the drive gates and escaped into the street. There is a muddy footmark on the white paint of the gate. At the spot where the man climbed trie fence a pair of boots with rubber heels was round and tilers &re footprints under one of the bedroom windows. The matter has reported to the police and enquiries arc- being made. .
