BIG DAY POE ATHLETES, jS'ew Year’s Day witnessed ono of the most successful meetings ever held on this coast, when tiie fifth annual meeting of the Paraparuumu Amateur Athle! ie Club was held on the domain. Wiin line weather and an excellent attendance of the public, a large entry of local as well as visiting- athletes from Wellington, Masterton, Palmorston Xorth and Levin, and an efficient band of willing workers, there was no dragging during a long programme which finished on time. Tiie points cup for seniors was won by Mr. A. 8. Hunter, of Levin, and tiie points cup for juniors, by Mr. Id. Podjursky, of Otaki. attendance and help to make the meet ing such a great success. Before leav ing, Mr. A. 0. Kitto, on behalf of tin athletes and visitors, thanked the exe cutivc and all workers for such a lin< day. The only drawback was the grea difficulty the judges had in deciding tin winners, especially in a close finish some competitors had numbers, while other, had none, this was most notic able amongst competitors from clubs in the Manawatu sub-centre. Jupp Band was in attendance and rendered a line programme of music. A dance was held in the Coronation hall in the evening, a lilting iinish to a very enjoyable day.
