LONDON EGG MARKET.

NEW ZEALAND SHIPMENT. GOOD PRICES REALISED. The Manawatu Co-operative Utility Poultry Society has been advised b\ the secretary of the Market Commission, Wellington, that the shipment ol eggs despatched Home recently realised a high level of prices. The consignment, comprised 207 cases, each containing 30 dozen eggs, and the prices lor different lots offered ranged iroin 21s 6d to 23s per long hundred (ten dozen). Commenting on the prices realised, a local poultry breeder informed a ! “Standard reporter that the figures ! quoted were gross landed terms. The England, which included all local charges and freights. “The prices were more than we expected.” he added, “and the egg* sold at, about 3d a dozen less than the English fresh egg, a fact which speaks I well for the quality and grading of I the shipment. The grading was very strict but it has been fully justified by the results This is the first time that a free shipment of eggs has been j sent Home lrern this country. Previ--1 ous shipments have comprised small

lines backed in chambers with butter j and cheese, but that method was not at all successful. The excellent condi- ! tion in which the first free shipment i was landed is a source of gratification, ! and the prices realised prove that 1 there is a market at Home for our eg-gs.
