a,. NO GENERAL SCHEME To BE UNDERTAKEN. At its meeting on Tuesday, the Horowheuua Rower Board considered tlie question of erecting a .house for the installation inspector, who stated t.ltat he. Jiuut Uecii unsuccessful in finding a house to rent, and asked n the Board would build a cottage. The Finance Committee, to v. hjin t.lje matter <\v«s referred, discussed the whole question of the building of cottages. Generally it- was agreed that the Board would he ill-advised to increase capital expenditure by erection of houses for employees on any large ; scale. In this instance, however, ii was decided to recommend the Board to erect a. house considering that 1 . ft is of decided "advantage that the i ifficer in quest ion should reside near ■ the works. I Mr Ynriiliain was consulted as to the probable cost of a suitable cottage in hollow concrete. He submitted a plan of a. four-roomed cottage in this material, without fencing or wiring. I The conmiititee thought thul tiiis was ! somewhat on the small side. but with the addition of another room it might serve the purpose. The final reeoinmeiulattion of ■the committee was •■ That the Board .erect a 5-roouied cottage in hollow-concrete on its property in Make Mako road.’’ This was agreed to.
