VALEDICTORY.

Mr. H. C. E. Stable, who has been manager of the Bank of Australasia at Otaki, for some tim'e, a.nd who leaves in the course of a few days to take up residence in Wellington, was entertained on Saturday night by members of the Otaki Club. During the evening Mr. Brandon, on behalf of the Club, asked Mr. Stahle's acceptance of a fine cigarette ease, and in doing so referred to the sterling qualities of Mr. Stahle, and said although he had not been in Otaki for a lengthy period he had made many friends who would regret his departure. Mr. Brandon also made pleasing reference to Mrs. Stahle. ("For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" followed). Mr. Stable warmly thanked all for the "send-off" and' presentation, and said he would often look back with pleasure to the many line friends he had left behind. Mr. Stahle then made reference to the use of elubs and deferred to the many enjoyable times members could spend by meeting and indulging in social intercourse. Different ideas could be exchanged in a friendly way. while many other advantages could l>e obtained. (Applause). Mr. Brandon then extended to Mr. Enrrobiii. who takes Iho position of manager of the Batik or Australasia in Mr. SJahle's place, a heart-.- welcome, stating that he felt sure Mr. Horrobin tould soon establish himself a warm favourite. Mr. Horrobin suitably replied, thanking all for their reception and stating that it was his wish to soon become favourably known. Refreshments were then partaken of.
