HOROWHENUA EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE.
f. SCHOOL BOOKS AND CENTR ALTsiio - SCHOOL'S. At a meeting of teachers held at Shannon on Saturday last several matters of general interest came, up for discussion. The question of school boohs was one. In the Wellington area the only miscellaneous reader is the School Journal and it. was felt that- a miscellaneous reader which would be of use for several' years might conveniently be added. Consolidated schools is a live question at this moment and the Minister talks of initiating one or more in each island, as experiments. It was pointed out at the meeting that both at Levin and Shannon there are consolidated schools which have been in operation for several years, particularly at Levin. This has proved its worth by the status Levin li/is obtained and the Department could get all Ihe information necessary- from an inquiry into the working in this district.
