OTAKI BEACH.
ITS MANY ADVANTAGES. The following adv antages are claimed for Otaki beach: — Situation —-2-1 miles from Otaki railway station Ivy a level. well-formed road, with a number of cars to take passengers from every train. 47 miles from Wellington, and 40 miles from I’nlmorston. Every train, except Auckland express. stops at Otaki. Climate —The best in the Dominion, where semi-tropical fruits grow in the open air, and llowet's that supply the Wellington and South Island markets. Scenery—A .jumping-oil plan: for Tararua climbing, where mountain valley. native bush and river sights are Well-known.
i Sections —They tire more generous in 1 than anything on the coast. The average Section on Otaki beach is twice as big as the biggest; of the resorts south. Tire smallest frontage is liti feet at Otaki. the largest, south, is 50 feet, and many of them much less. Dedications —The Otaki sea front lias 42 acres of laud dedicated to the public for ever, also two acres near tin [kiosk for public buildings. Tlicro tire vivo public tennis courts, and the land A is waiting, as a free gift, for the first bowling club that is formed on tin beach. Conveniences—An up-to-date kiosk that holds SO to 100 guests, and where visitors can get meals. A high-pressure water service passes along every street on the beach, and electric light is oak a matter of a few months. Visitors are within call of two doctors. There i? a post amt telegraph office on the beach, a store ami bakery, anil milk is brought twice daily to people's doors. Progress—There are (ill houses on the beach, not shacks, but quite decent residences, and many more to follow. Sport—The beach is within It mile of a championship golf course, second to none In New Zealand, where visitors i can play hy paying green fees, i can also be played on the line hard sard m ar the AVaitohu River. There are no lagoons or stugi-iani water within miles of the beach breed mosquitos. The sandy soil cot: tains a humous that will grow trees and flowers, as already has been demon strated. The Otaki beach has made faster progress than any other seaside resort, and that progress is going to bo maintained. Some 180 sections were offered a litllc over two years ago and they were : sold in six months. To-day they arc re-soHinc at twice and three times whet they brought then, and many owners intend building in the mmi future.
