Mr. IV. H. Field, M.l’., who was among the visitors to Otaki yesterday, left to-dav on a brief visit to Auckland. Mr. .1. C. Cusack has unlilfed Mr. Good’ey. of Otaki. that lie is willing to act as the Otaki Athletic Club’s representative in Wellington. The Rev. Williams, superintendent id' Maori Missions, delivered a fine ad dress at the Anglican Church last night. There was a large congregation, extra seats having to be procured. Special prayers were said on behalf of the Mis •ion. A number of Rangiuru residents paid a surprise visit to Mr. and Mrs. Dixon ’s residence on Saturday evening and made presentations to all members of the family, it being pointed out that Mr. and Mrs. Dixon and the younger ones had done much for Rangiuru residents during the past few mouths. Kulogistic speeches were made and replied to. after which all present spent an enjoyable time. At the invitation of the headmaster of t lte District High School, Mr. Byron Brown (judge of elocution at the Competitions), visited the Cambridge school and gave a most interesting and instructive talk tu the children of the secondary depart incut and upper stand aid-. He spoke of tile faults j M .fiocut oui. and illustrated his [mints by quoting various passage-. The teachers of the sc’ -oi are deepb- grateful to Mr. Brown for his kindness, ami his advice will prove most useful, to both the children and teachers.
