SPORTS MEETING.
The Otaki Athletic Club will held the first of a-aeries of evening meetings on October loth, and entries close with the uandicnppcr, .Mr. Ay re. at 1 p.m. on the 1 Ith inst. The club hope to make the meetings enjoyable, and .1 believes ill] "sports" to give hearty support. Local residents are donating trophies to the value of £1 1- for Hist prizes and 10s lid for second. The Levin Club intend to hold Iheir annual sports' gathering- <>■■ Labour llav (October 22ni.1) and Die pro grai (published elsewhere) is one which should be perused by all athletes. It is a lengthy and varied one. and comprises open cycle events, open lint event-, various field events. evele and foot races for Indies, and handicaps for juniors. Valuable trophies will be awarded, and it is fully expected that all local and district athletes, besides .'other 'ion; various centres, will take part. The "llobson Cup" will also be competed for and keen eompetitiun for (his is expected. In Mr. Ceo. Watson the club possesses a verv capable haiidieapper and starter, while Mr. Hunter. as secretary, will be only too pleased to give any information' required. Nominations for all events close- on October 10th. at S p.m.
