HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Council was held at Wellington yesterday. Present: Crs. H. I). Atkinson (chairman). J. Whiteman, C. I. Bimbrick, E. A. Campbell. Inspector's Report.

The /inspector (Mr. J. W. Cudby) reported that during a recent gale a deal of damage had been done at Eowry Bay —Bay ’s Bay Road, while in other Ridings wandering slock was a source of annoyance. Metalling and general maintenance work had been carried out in Whareroa Riding, while the road between Paekakuriki and Paraparaumu was, although rough, improving steadilT. The rough state was due to much liond-brokeu rock being used during the past few months, and the one thing needed to make a quick and lasting surface was a roller. Correspondence. Correspondence was dealt with as follows: — Prom Main Highways Board informing the Council ot the Board’s decision iu reference to tlie constitutions of the Wellington West Highways district, which included the iiutt County.— Held over till next meeting, when Cr. Maekay would be present, it being considered, after extensive travelling, that advice I rum him would be valuable. From Highways Board requesting the Council to forward in formal ion jii regard to the machinery and the equipment possessed by tie Council. —Information io be supplied. Prom Education Board requesting the Council to approve of cert aim transfers and dedications to improve the school site at Paekakuriki. —Held over pending the presence of Cr. Mackay, who was conversant with the matter.

From the Wellington Automobile Club complaining of the bad state of Bay's Buy Road, which one member considered was the worst he had ever onc ou ntered.—Lellcr received.

Prom C. G. Tolhurst, oilering to negotiate any loans the Council may/ require.—Received. \ From L. C. Green, asking permission j to take a motor-lorry through to Tai-1 liape. —Bran led. 1 Prom W. Robinson asking for a higher rule of pay l‘ur horse teams. — Cr.
