W r hy should we, as ratepayers, help the Council to spend over £IOOO in paying Mr. Jickell £ioo, and a Clerk of Works how much? Here we have Mr. Davies, who has pioved his ability by carrying the water-works scheme to such a satisfactory finish, and if Mr. Jickell has no fault to find with our engineer’s dminage scheme let us go ahead with it. Perhaps some abler pen than mine v II take the matter up and show that the people are taking an interest in the d; iposul of public money. — Tours,
