OTAKI GUN CLUB.

WON BY BEST. The Otaki Gun Club held a shoot for a €ls handicap on Saturday, when competitors wer c present from Paluicrston -North, Lower Hutt, Marlon, and various parts of this district. Great interer.l was shown and some splendid •hooting resulted. Best eventually being declared the winner after securing 1!) breaks out of 21. Boswell and Caviled for second place, but it is a noteworthy fact that the former secured 17 birds with his first barrel. Marshal!, the champion live-bird shot of New Zealand, competed, and out of 15 breaks secured 14 with the one barrel. (Scott, a veteran of To years, from the Lower Hutt, also competed, but was below his usual fiorra and retired. At times he shot remarkably well. .Sweeptakes were afterwards held when good shooting was again recorded. During. the day Mesdames Siddells, Webster, and Higgott dispensed afternoon tea which was appreciated, while credit for the success of the "shoot" was chiefly due to the secretary, Mr. Harold Taylor. Mr. Skippage, of Lower Hull, proved an efficient handicapper, Mr. T. Parata was referee, while Messrs Major Seal and P. R§-der manipulated me
