After discussion o,f a general ntiture Mr. Eddy considered it would be no hardship to footballers to have a cricket pitch on the field of play, while even playing on the turf, covered by coeoana* raattin-jr, wouJd be sufficient: •-'-:' -• . • ._■ ■ Mr. Davies considered the whole' ground needed preparatipn; the grass was not of toe best, while Mr. Percival thought money could be saved by the use of. a Cambridge roller only, especially if the ground was top-dressed. Ho -considered ib-gre was no need to »oend £SO on drainage. Mr. Kilmister and Mr. Taylor cors-si'Ji-red drainage very necessary. Mr. Percival also stated that money would'be saved by the purchase of the two sections on Mill Road, and if secured the croquet club would make an entrance and pay toward? the upkeep. The purchase would also obviate the necessity to place a concrete cricket pitch on the footbaH field. Mr. Percival also pointed out "that-the matter 61 the purchase of sections had not been opposed till after the carnival, and the purchase of the additional land would meet with the wishes of the promoters of the affair
The chairman pointed out that the matter of rhe sections had been settled r>nd that it was agreed not to purchase. H f > considered there was ample ground in the present domain.
After discussion of a fae* and easy nature it was decided that the sum of £oQ bo allowed for conveniences for men in 'the grandstand, the niftier of conveniences for j-riies was hejjj in obeyance. it was agreed that £lO should be "spent for fire- brigade fittings, that the entrance gates and land off Wserenga Boad he not favoured, that croquet greens at a cost of about €2lO be laid down near the hockey shed, but the erection of a small pavilion, with conveniences, tra; held in Ofieyance. ihe matter of erection of a grandstand was left to the Borough fieaneil, while Messrs Eddy and Mosley were appointed to draft a letter "to the Council. Messrs Kilmister aiid Taylor were appointed to confer with Mr. Isr>vie.s over work to be don-, while a hearty vote of thank- wSS'at-eordeTi Mr. Dayi.es; for his work in connection with the matter.
