DISTRICT NURSE FOR WAIKANAE.
The Dirce-tor-Gencral of Health ' -.-.-rote to the Palrrterston North Ho>pit;il Board yesterday, asking for informatiou as to the scope of the duties of the district nurse, which the Board intended to appoint for the Waikanne district. It had been reported that there was need for a nur.se to visit among the Maoris of the Horowhenua district, especially among the pas at Kuku. Manakau, and Muhunoa. and to attend to the minor ailments and shin troubles among the children. The Maoris in Otaki and its vicinity were provided for by the hospital, an'! could be visited from there, it required. An arrangement might be ar- j rived at to pay a certain amount H>- I wards the work among the Maori- I from the Xarive vote. The director I would be glad to know if the Board j would extend the nurse's services to j take iti this work. —Xo action to be [ taken. i
