, . MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Council was held :it Wellington yesterday. Present: Crs. H. 1). Atkinson (chairman), G. I. Limbrick, E. G. Card, A. Campbell, and J. Whiteman. ~:. Correspondence was dealt with )ns follows: — From Valuation Department suggesting that the Council decline to supply particulars of land valuation from Valuation Roll.—Received. From Paraparaur.iu Memorial Committee requesting that something be done for an approach to the memorial gates. —Left to Inspector to attend to. From Parapuraujmi Laiupayers' Association thanking the Council for pro- I viding ;i lamp at Kapili Street railway crossing.—lieccA cd. i From West Coast Motor Transport Association suggesting thai the Coua•'l raise the rest tic'ion on heavy traffic one month earlier than the by-laws stipulate (September 3ut.li). —No ac- j

Evans asking chat .toutpaths be formed on Moaua Road (Flimmerton). —No action. From J. Mulhern relative to a special rating area in connection with the erection of an overhead bridge at Pukerua. —Decided to assist in the matter and ask the Valuation Department to do the work. From Paraparaumu Ratepayers' Association asking if any money had been placed OU the estimates for Arawa Road.—Left over till Cr. Mackay's return. Inspector's Report. The Inspector (Mr. Cudby) reported that the Bahautanui to Plimmerton road had been metalled tit the eastern end to the bridge spanning Horokiwi . stream, while repairs oi' the nest end were under way. 'The west road from Paekakariki to L'ttraparauiuu had been improved while the road in the vicinity of Paekakariki had been attended to. In the Munguroa riding, ordinary maintenance work had been carried on, Maclean's Road at Paraparaumu beach had been formed and metalled in accordance with plans and specifications, j .
and the seal of the Council could now be affixed. The inspector recommended that no progress payment be made to Kitteridge .and Cootes on their contract at Paraparaumu. It was decided that: the bitter matter be left to the Chairman and Inspector. it being agreed that the contractors were entitled to a portion of their claim. , After discussion it was decided that the office hours be the same as formerly. '
