Many housewives have sought to solve the servants difficulty by importing a useful Danish or Norwegian girl. This idea lias in many cases proved a great success, but the authorities are now putting the immigration law in motion to prevent the incoming of alien women, whether for domestic service or as dressmaker’s and shop assistants. It is now very difficult: to obtain a permit for the entry of a foreign domestic servant. The reason given for this restriction is that British girls arc now coming into domestic, service, but no one who is looking for help in the home has observed anv great rush as yet.
