MEETING OF LADIES. } Much lias been heard in Otaki oi dilierent bodies disappearing or being camouflaged out of existence, but such is not likely to be the case with the Municipal Croquet Club, as on Monday afternoon, thos'e ladies who have interested themselves in Municipal croquet, and through whom, indirectly, the splendid sum of £I,OU(J was raised in lhe short space of four weeks, assembled iii full force to discuss matters. Disappointment was expressed that the j Council had, so far, made no attempt to have lawns ready for the coining season. tiie fact that there are ‘6l names down as intending members, proving ~.»u u.ere is much need for them. After u lengthy discussion it was decided that a. deputation wait on the '.f/uaeii urging that the Council utilise a poriion of the carnival funds to buy two sections on Mill Road and backing on to the Domain, for croquet lawns and an entrance, the croquet club lo pay an adequate up keep for the lawns and to do all in its power to beautify the entrance. These two sections were included in a plan drawn up to show ) now the Domain should be laid out and which met with much approval at the first carnival meeting, and it was felt that other sports ’ bodies would fall in line with this scheme as it would leave the domain intact for two football fields. At the conclusion of the meeting a hearty vole of thank* to Mr. Morse was passed for the use of a room at the theatre.
