TE HORO. l'ln.s match was one 01 the hardest fought and evenly contested games of the season, and it- \\a b not until sixty minutes after the commencement of play that a score resulted. In the first spell the Hovers had the -■dope of the ground in their favour, win. b, however, was equalised bv the weight of the Te Horo forwards." Ex- ! change of kicks and forward rushes were the feature of this spell. Te Horo generally obtained the ball in the scrums, as even when Rovers hooked it, the heavy Te Horo pack pushed them over. In their passing Hovers lacked snap, and hanging on to He ball lost, them golden opportunities. Bishop made one nice run and after beating several opponents, hung on too long and was neatly collared, with all the backs waiting in position for the pass. "Hie only other incident in the fiift. spel] was a nice forward rush by Te Horo which carried them right across the Rovers' line. Apparently team recognised the fact, the ground not being well marked out. A Rov< r player kicked the ball which wad taken by a Te Horo man, who had only to touch down to score. Instead he started to run and the ball was knocked out of his hands and forced. Willi the opening oi the second spell things looked black for Rovers lor a time, but sticking, to their work, they ~oon had Te Horn defending. Frmi a tricky run by Bishop who transferred to Delaney, the latter out-pacing the, opposition. :i score resulted near the corner. The kick failed.
This reverse livened up Te Horo. but Rovers gradually worked the ball back and from a free kick Tantrum kicked a. nice goal. Te Horo were not yet beaten and made several strong -attacks on the Rovers' line, but found Mie defence sound. A free-kick to Te Horo resulted in (lie ball striking tho post, Owing to the late start the grime finished in semi-darkness. Rovers f> Te IToro 0. Otaki Juniors for Saturday:—A. J. Voting. .1. Lima.
