ENTHUSIASTICALLY WELCOMED. Thu* tlu* Auckland Star: In the I own Hail last •Saturday evening Mr Edward Bra n-'.ombc’.' Westminster Glee Singers gave the initial concert of the season before a large and highly interested gathering of io vers of music. The performance was very enjoyable, and everybody departed from the concert delighted with, the beautiful singing of the bovs. the intelligent

performance of the ballads by the adub voices, and the finished rendering oi the concerted music. A warm welcome was given the singers upon their entry and though the programme was a lengthy one of sixteen numbers so charmed were the listeners that the programme

items had to be increased to double the number. The combination consists of six soprano boys. one male alto, three tenors, and two basses. Very great interest was taken in the singing of the boy.-, which is perhaps the most popular feature of the party, whilst the alto, Mr Donald Reid, who creates a beautiful flute-like tone of pure timbre, which brightens the entire quality of the sound of the choir in ensemble, also proved a novelty because of the scareity of counter-tenors in the Dominion. To hear this fine combination sing proved a revelation, the music presented was of the purest nature, and interpretations were secured of the items which were fine examples of artistic singing and intelligent musicianship.
