ANNUAL REPORT. 'Report i'or year ending April 30, IOl'3: "Ladies and Gentlemen, the Society bus now been established for a quarter of a century, and your commit; tee submit for your consideration the 25th annual balance-sheet and report. There has been an improvement in the finances. those who so generously contributed to the special prize fund, amounting to £SO, and also to those who donated trophies. At the Bulb show. l£r 11. Toole. with his third win. became the owner of the trophy presented by Mr H. Wit-
ch'ell for three varieties of trumpets in the opea class, whilst at the Spring show Miss .Millie .Baker, also a thirdtime winner, secured the trophy for one rose in the amateur class, which was also presented by Mrs E. A. Cockrcll in the decorative section. There luu been a substantial increase in members' tickets, viz., from 54 last year to 75 for the current year. This, with other increases, indicates the wisdom of amalgamation with the Bulb Society. To Miss M. Baker, the Misses Whileman, Mesdatucs Reynolds, Nicolson, and Perrival, who so successfully conducted the

The Otaki Band rendered -elections at all the shows, thereby adding to the pleasure of patrons, and we tender them our sincere thanks for their kindness. Miss Baker's departure from Otaki marked the loss of a valued and active worker. Prior to leaving she was made the recipient Of a silver wristlet watch, carrying' with it our l,e>t wishes i'or her future. Visiting nurserymen from the Hutt, Palmerston North.' Manakau, Wangnnui, and "Waikanae. staged some very fine exhibit? at the various shows, thus enabling residents to see the latest novelties in the flower world. To those ladies are! gentlemen who officiated as judges we wish to exprei'. uV thanks for their services and our appreciation of the aide manner in which they carried out their duties. As there is nothing in the Society s rules defining an "Amateur" it becomes necessary for you to draw up rules giving the definition you intend t 0 adopt. Also there will be submitted for consideration the alteration of method of allocating special prize money and of keeping the accounts of each show separate.
