A. strange accident occurred recently in the boiler-room of an hotel in Paris, -when a 60-year-old shell exploded. The shell, which was believed to be a harmless piece of iron, had been used for many years as a coal hammer. The handle bavin? snapped, the stoker attached to the boilerroom of the hotel, was using a piece of red-hot iron to repair the damage when a terrific explosion took place. The man was injured in the spine by a splinter, while fragments of the shell broke th.e pipes, letting- out the boiilng water. The stoker way taken to hospital, -where his injuries were found to be of a very serious nature.
