The Committee of the Otaki Library met on Monday evening. Present: Rev. G. F. Petrie. M.A. fin the chair) and Mesduwes Broadway. Cook, Swabey and Olliver, Messrs Brantley, Box, Watts, Percival, and S. Norgrove (Sec-
retary). The Secretary read a statement of accounts showing a credit balance of £5 Is Gd. Of this £4 3s was unexpended book purchase account.
The Goerefaty read correspondence re rest resort site for library, includ-
ing an assurance given to contributors before the purchase of the site, that a library building would not be erected thereon. The Chairman reported on behalf of the sub-committee that as there was at present no other site in view, or building suitable for housing the library, that it w'ould not be wise to proceed with the sale by auction of the present library building and land. it was ie-tolyeij that an effort be made to reduce the liability on the library. and as a first step it was decided. that a eitohre tournament be held oft Monday next in the Druids’ Hall, ir available. Mesdames Olliver. Cook, and Broadway were appointed to mahs all arrangements.
