CHARGE OF SANATORIUMS
AT OTAKI AND PUKE OR A. HEALTH DEPARTMENT'S -NEW PROPOSAL, The Wellington Hospital Board _hus received a letter from the Department of Health, requesting it to consider a proposal that the Pukeora and Otaki sanatorium* -hall be maintained by the joint boards of the North Island. The Department is willing to hand over free of charge the land and institutions as they at present .stand, to enable boards to make provision on their estimates. A conference is to be called, «h..n the management and control will be considered. The annual maintenance expenditure for the Otaki institution was estimated at. about £07.j0, a, J( J at Pukeora £34,000, which is reducible by receipts. The letter added that re-
ceipt- should be about £26,000, leaving a net cost of about £13,700 to be divided amongst the boards in proportion to their rateable \alue. The chairman (Mr F. Cattle; s.aid
