It is very much to bo hoped that Parliament will be able in the forth-
coming session to reach some iinality •with regard to the -•. policy of road construction and maintenance

grammes of road construction and re placement of bridges but are afraid t ; move owing to uncertainty as to wlia consideration they will receive whci the new highway authority is establish
ed. As things are, local bodies enmio 1 be expected to do their full share ii roadmaking, and the roads and bridge must get steadily into worse condition
