THIS YEAR'S FARM WORK
ARRANGEMENTS IN HAND. Arrangements are already being ■ made at the Central Development' Farm for the holding of the Farmers' I School, such as met with unqualified success last year. The dates chosen arc from April 30 to May & The programme, which is a very comprehensive one, is being arranged j by the Manager, .Mr W. J. McCullough, and Mr A. H. Cockayne, Government Biologist, and comprises lee-; tures and demonstrations on the following subjects: Dairy cattle, diseases of cattle, feeding oi cattle, the care of milk and herd-testing, principles Of animal breeding, insect pests < of live stock, horses, pigs, wool-class-ing, laying down and management of | pastures, lucerne, hay and ensilage _ making, manures and manuring, top-' Private houses could be fitted at a dressing, grass lands; 1n New Zealand, The lecturers will comprise Messrs. \ H. Cockayne, Chief Government Biologist; E. B. Levy. Assistant Biologist; T. W. Greenwood, Department of Agriculture; W. T. Collins, M.B.C. V.S., Superintendent Government Veterinary Department; F. C. Brown, Director' Poultry Division: R Waters, basterologist; D. Miller, entomologist: 3. G. Cook, wool-classing; K. \V. Gorringe, instructor in swine husbandry; G. H. Cunningham, mierologist; ami \V. M. Singleton, Director ot Hairy Division.
Arrangements are being made accommodate eighty students,
charge being 35/ for the week, which is the contract price for the catering. accommodation being supplied free by the Department. Application for enrolment, accompanied by enrolment fee, should be made to the Manager. The value of the movement was amply demonstrated last year, and large demands on the accommodation are expected, a considerable number of students having already booked up. Besides those arriving from a distance who will stay during the course of the week's school, local farmers are Dee to attend at any time suitable to themselves, and for them no charge whatever will be made.
