TAURANGA BY-ELECTION.
* SIE JOSEPH WAKD TO STAND. OFFICIAL REFORMER OPEXS CAMPAIGN. Auckland. March 0. I Sir Joseph Ward has announced his decision to stand for the Tauranga seat. STRONG COMMITTEES BEING FORMED. Te. Aroha, March 6. Before deciding to contest the Tauranga seat Sir Joseph Ward com.nmnicated with his business interests in the South Island. He has left for Auek-_ land. Strong committees are being formed in this part of the electorate by the Liberal Party. OTHER STARTERS. Auckland, March 5. The Tauranga by-election campaign was opened, when Mr C. E. MacMillan, the Reform candidate, delivered a speech at Katikati, in the north-west portion of the electorate. Mr T. Lochhead, who was approached by members of the executive of the Farmers' Union and local branch of the Farmers' Union, stated in Tauranga yesterday that he would contest the Tauranga seat if he is accorded the support of the Farmers' Union branches throughout the electorate. A Labour candidate has not yet been announced. MR WILFORD 'S CONGRATULATIONS. Wellington, Lust Night. Mr T. M. Wilford states that he has telegraphed to Sir Joesph Ward, congratulating him on his decision. "I am ready to assist his candidature in every way possible," added Mr Wilford. for there never has been a lime when his financial ability was more needed."
