SPORTS GATHERINGS.

in this issue we advertise particulars of sports' gathering.-. The- first to be held will take place at Levin on the 14tb inst., and for this meeting valuable trophies are offered, while the programme is a lone ;.[ !( | varied one. The starting time is 1.3 b. therefore athletes from this end will be aide to travel by the mid-day train. Mr Geo. Wat,on. who ha- had lone; experience, is hand; capper and .-tarter, and may be relied upon to give satisfaction. Nomination- close to-night.

The Otaki meeting will take place on the domain, which j. being thoroughly prepared, on the L'4th inst., and competitors may rely upon securing line trophicas prizes. The programme contains' a number of open events, while guessing competition-, etc. will add to the vari-

ety. A refreshment stall will be on the grounds. The Committee, with Mr Mills as secretary, is proving energetic and it i- hoped they wiH be rewarded by large entries. The Waikanae gathering—always a popular one —should, like the Levin and Otaki meeting.-, draw a large crowd. Tbe programme is a splendid one, and embraces the handsome Fisher cup, valued at £1" lb-. Included in the list are horse events, guessing competitions, etc.. while to further enliven proceedings the Otaki Brass Band wiil render selections.
