* SEVEN TO ONE MAJORITY. I Much interest was-taken in the-poll of ratepayers on Friday for the pur- , pose of raising £II,OOO for installing a | high-pressure water supply for Shan-. I non. The number of votes recorded I during the morning was very small, 1 but in the afternoon the returning l officer, Mr J. T. Boris, was kept busy. 1 1 There are 204 ratepayers on the roll, : I of whom nearly 30 per cent are absen- j 1 tees. Eighty-two- ratepayers recorded i | their votes, which must be consider- j I ed highly satisfactory. The result ol j the poll was as follows: For the proposal 71 ; i Against ll j Informal nil !
