TO-NIGHT. “THE SHEIK.” Rudolph Valentino as “The Sheik’ is Paramount’s dynamite attraction, a picture that has in one night established Valentino as the outstanding figure in motion pictures. There is no necessity to dwell upon his earlier performances before “The Sheik,’’ for it is this picture which has made a household word —sudden, yet impressionable. "Valentino is a man’s man —and a woman’s ideal! With each individual patron he creates desire —a desire that is stimulated towards the end his thrilling portrayul of “The Sheik,’’ for almost brute force and strength indicated in the earlier scenes is thrown against a background of tenderness in a never-to-be-forgotten final. Valentino’s forceful characterisation inspires a second and third visit, He has strength of character —mentally and physically—and both are displayed to advantage. His heart pulsates with the warm, red blood of the East. His leve is passionate and seeks corresponding emotions. Valentino is virile and the picture intense a picture vividly
colourful of life —and a star with a depth of feeling. Valentino in “The Sheik’’ is successful in all ways—he pleases and satisfies patrons.
