RAILWAY FACILITIES.

BETWEEN OTAKI AND WELe LINGTON. 7 s The following is a copy of a letter 1 sent to Mr Field, M.P., on improved * railway service, and is a matter that will, no doubt, be given support by our Borough Council: — “W. H. Field, Esq., M.P., Wellington. Dear Sir, —We, the undersigned settlers and visitors to the Otaki district, greatly appreciate your efforts in obtaining an improved railway service and trust this expression of approval 1 will encourage you to obtain still great- \ cr facilities. We appreciated the Sun- ! day train from Otaki being delayed one hour on 11th February and would esteem it a great boon if the Sunday train now leaving Otaki at 4.30 p.m. was scheduled to leave at 5.30 p.m. ia future, or if not all the year round, at 1 least from Ist Sunday in September to » the 2ud Sunday after Easter in each year. We also suggest that the morning train leaving Paekakariki at 7 a.m. be extended to Otaki and scheduled to depart about 6.30 a.m., running through Paekakariki about 7 a.m. stopping as at present, and also to stop at all stations ■ between Otaki and Paekakariki. If our request ean be granted it would 1 prove a great boon to the people who i use the week-end service, popularise the J district, and increase the railway roveu-

l’etitions are also in circulation in various parts of the district between Wellington and Otaki, and arc being largely signed.
