BOWLING.
TOWN v. COUNTRY, Recently the Town players defeated the Country by a substantial margin, but on Saturday the tables were turned, and the Country team secured a win, but by the narrow margin of four only. Each side won two games. Following are the scores, town being mentioned first in each case: —
Eddy, Bax, Whiteman, Bills (s) v. Atkinson, Freeman, Olliver, Wiudley (s) —13—23. Country led all the way, and were 8 up on the 4th head, on the 7th head 13 —4, on the 13th 15—9.
Pcreival, Koall, Heald (s) v. Mosley, McGill, Petrie (s) —substitutes —13 —31. The latter rink led in the early stages of the game, and were 21—2 on tho 11th head, and 31—5 on tho 18th. On tho last three heads Heald scored eight.
Bramlcy, Vann, Davies, Sutherley (s) v. Siddells, Brown, Kilmister, Noble (s) —29—lU. The former rink opened well and on tho loth head scored seven, making tho game 18—7 in their favour. On the remaining heads they scored eleven against three. Moore, St. George, Ayre, Smith (s) v. Gooding, Hawca, Irving, Williams (s) —19—14. This was tho best game of the day, and on the 14th head was 12— 10 in favour of tho town. After this ( the Country team only scored lour, three of these, being on the lust head.
The match that was being arranged for March 17th between Otaki and Lyall Bay has been cancelled owing to the Surf Club’s carnival being on that date.
