CROQUET.
Mrs Smith, who has held (he Brandon brooch for some time, has been defeated by Mrs Cook. Croquet players in Otaki appear to be breaking records as regards the time taken to play matches. A game (doubles) was started yesterday at 2 p.m., and finished in the moonlight about 7.3 d p.m. Mesdamcs Noble and Nicolson at d Mesdamcs Davies and Bills were the contestants* and after an exciting finish the former pair won.
