F£BltUAllY MEETING. 11k; usual meeting ol the Board was held on Tuesday, the members present being Messrs. G. A. Monk (chairman;, A. A. Brown, D. W. Matheson, A. McKay, W. Barber, C. Kilsby, W. H. Gunning and A. Seifert. CORRESPONDENCE. Mr W. H. Gunning, Shannon, forwarded option of purchase on section selected by the Board’s Engineer, Mr Overton. He also enclosed lelter from Mr O’Connor re road through the boundary of his property to Grey Street, which would have the effect of making the section a corner one. The juice lie considered was quite satisiaciory in view of the long street homage the property had.—Received. The A.M.P. Soceity advised that £SOOO of loan money would be available in Levin on 21st inst.—Received. PURCHASES APPROVED. The report of .the special committee regarding; (1) purchase oi a Thornycroft motor lorry and trailer at £1339, (2; the acceptance of tender for low tension insulators (contract 4) at £lO3l 15/, and also, (3) the acceptance ol a tender for high tension insulators at £2605 12/6, plus cost of 2000 pole top pins, and (4) arrangements regarding a temporary depot, was adopied on the motion ol Messrs Matheson and McKay. Sub-station .'site, Shannon. —As in* strucied at last Board meeting, I inspected the site under offer to the Board, Tn company with Mr Gunning. Provided the figure asked is in ac-

cordance with values in Shannon, I would recommend the purchase ot same. Mr Gunning is of opinion that ilie offer is a fair one. The chairman said Mr Overton's suggestion regarding the delay of the deliveries oi material about three months would mean a saving of £4OO in interest, which was a consideration.

Mr Kilsby asked would it bo adv'isi able to delay deliveries. The cliaimian said the Engineer was thoroughly in touch with every phase ot the work, and his recommendation was not made without due consideration. Mr "Seifert said if the delay would throw the work out of its stride, it would mean losing more than £4OO. The Engineer explained that the delay would not throw the work out of stride, hut was made only from the fact that die work at Mangahao was not up do schedule. 'l'he Engineer’s report was adoptpd .including the purchase of half an acre of land at Shannon for the sum of £l5O.
